Had a great day working on all sorts of technical challenges.
First, I set up email on my server. I’ve done it before—followed an online tutorial. Could I find the link again? No, not anywhere. It’s buried in years of bookmarks of really good stuff that I’ll likely never see again.
Anyway, after a load of faffing, I’ve configured my little server to use Postfix to send emails using my Gmail account. It took far longer than it should have, though. Two reasons.
First: overconfidence. I should know this. I do know this. I don’t know this.
Second: I didn’t read the instructions correctly when it didn’t work. The primary reason for this is point 1.
So, calm down—fresh coffee. Try again.
Anyway, I can send emails now.
Then I set about installing AIO SEO for WordPress. Not a challenge in itself. Not until I wanted to add all the media links. For context, I have a lovely new laptop where I haven’t logged into everything yet. On my phone, I have most things. But because of a mixture of login methods – Gmail, Email, Facebook, etc, getting logged in to the desktop versions was an exercise in reading emails, SMS messages, WhatsApp messages, magic and luck.
Then came KDP – Kindle Direct Publishing. Easy enough, actually, so long as you know your IBAN, Bank Swift ID and don’t get confused about tax. That led to a winding rabbit hole, too.
Turns out after a lot of messing about, I didn’t pay enough tax last year, and the Government want me to pay up. Looks like hard times ahead.
All sorted, though.
